Julieta is about to move away from Madrid with her partner Lorenzo, when a chance encounter with the childhood friend of her daughter Anita changes those plans suddenly. The fact is that Julieta hasn’t been in contact with her daughter in many years and this meeting makes her hope that she will see Anita again. She decides to try and reconnect with Anita by writing to her to reveal the secrets she had kept from her and to explain what drove them apart.
Inspired by the short stories of Canadian author Alice Munro, this new film from renowned Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar (Volver) sees him return to familiar territory, with a female-focused story about love, loss and regret.
